Code Of Practice

The treatments are carried out in a homely environment and a strict Code of Practice and Industry Code of Ethics is maintained.

All new clients have a consultation with the therapist before treatment. An assessment form is completed which includes information about:

  • Previous medical and health history
  • Diet
  • Sleep patterns
  • Present medication
  • Skin allergies

Records are kept for each client to:

  • Correctly record clients details
  • Evaluate the best possible treatment plan for that particular client
  • Note any important details i.e. contraindications to treatment
  • Note any irregularities i.e. bruises, pigmentation disorders
  • Note any effects, good or bad from treatment and possible causes
  • Record any other treatments or future treatments that the client may enjoy
  • Provide a new therapist with information about client.

Client records are complete and accurate and confidentiality is preserved.

Before treatment begins, it may be necessary in some cases for the therapist to contact the clients local General Practitioner to seek advice, as massage treatment could cause complications to conventional treatments.

Massage involves making contact with people and listening and caring. The therapists ensure a professional relationship with each client, as establishing a professional relationship will allow the individual to feel free to discuss any personal or medical problems, if they choose to do so. This information will help the therapist to administer the most appropriate treatment to the client. A strict code of confidence is operated in this establishment. As massage involves touch, some clients may become embarrassed as some treatments involve removing parts of or all clothing. Others find massage threatening. All therapists act professionally when carrying out the treatment to give assurance and not cause embarrassment to their client.

Aromatherapy oils are used in some of the massage treatments as they are ideal for treating menopausal symptoms, minor stresses and strains of everyday life i.e. headaches, overwork, insomnia, muscular pains and indigestion.
